Large variety of musical instruments is available. Each instrument is different from the other in sound, appearance and quality. Every instrument has unique mechanism to produce a sound out of it. There are lot of instruments like sting instruments, wind instruments, Brass instruments, and percussion instrument etc. Among these guitar, violin, piano falls under string instrument category while flute, clarinet, saxophone comes under wind category and Drum and cymbals are percussion instruments.

String instruments :
String is the main tool in the string instruments. With the help of string vibration different sounds are created. These strings are of different thickness, weight and length. If the string is heavy and thick the sound produced will be slow and deep. For high pitch the string should vibrate fast. Length has very important role in vibration as short length strings vibrate fast compared to long length stings.

Wind instruments :
To get sound from the wind instrument , air vibration is done by blowing in the one end of the pipe organ and the sound comes from the other end. The pitch of the sound depends on the frequency of the air vibration. And interestingly, it’s the size and length of the air pipe that affects the air vibration frequency.

Brass instruments :
As name suggests these are made up of brass metal. Like wind instruments; sound is created by blowing air into the instrument. Air vibration depends on the size and length of the air chamber. Sound pitch depends on the size of the air chamber. However, blowing air is a technique which an expert can do to produce right sound.

Percussion instrument :
Percussion instruments like drum or cymbals are hit or shaken to create the musical sound. Different kinds of materials can be used to produce different sounds like metal, wood or vibrating membrane etc. The size and thickness of these materials can create different sounds for example membranes produces low pitch because they vibrate very slowly. For higher pitch sounds metals like triangles and bells can be used because they vibrate faster.

Knowing about the instrument is not that tough as learning or mastering it. It requires sheer hard work and dedication to master any of the above instruments.
