It is more of voice expertise than instrumental. It is on the whole devotional music to Hindu god and goddesses.

The two chief pillars on which current Indian music based on are rag and tal. Rag is melodic compared to the rhythmic tal. Raag is Hindu word derived from Sanskrit and it means to color. It is meant to colour the listner’s mind with emotions. Some of the instruments like Bansuri, Dilruba, Santur, sanrangi etc.

Tal means clap. Tal is rhythem and tabla has replacedthe clap in these days. Different types of tal are Dadra tal, Jhumra tal, rupak tal, Dhammar tal.

Raga and talk are not interpreted as same everywhere.

The most popular Indian music instruments are sitar and tabla. Indian music or “sangeet” is a combination of vocal, instrumental and dance. To master any aspect of it, sometimes it takes life time to get the right understanding of the music.
